After a partial night’s sleep in my own bed, a day of work, and a couple of burritos I think I’m ready to throw some numbers out, and lay down some (likely trite) reflections on the recent past.
First, by the numbers:

Second, some pontificating and vain reflection:
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to have travelled through 9 of the 10 Canadian provinces; Newfoundland and Labrador, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon, I promise to come as soon as I can. The landscapes and natural beauty are destined to impress, both with their innate features, and with the stark contrasts between them. More impressive, to me at least, is the unifying theme of friendliness. The further we got from home, the friendlier the people became; from smiles, to directions, the sharing of kind words, food, and drink, the opening of homes and the benefit of the doubt given.
Over the past several days I have rediscovered parts of the love of music that I had forgotten I once struggled with, leapt into, and let enfold me. Without trying to impose some thin, homogeneous idea of the ‘human condition’, to see others engaged with music, with one another, and with the best interests of a community made me deeply happy. I won’t pretend to understand the motivations or desires of all of those individuals, but the respect and consideration accorded the fellow actors in the various plays that we partook in gives me hope for greater deeds yet to come.
Finally,
Dear Paint Movement, at present I have had two showers in the past twenty four hours, and have not driven an automobile for the same. Furthermore, I have ready access to multiple pairs of clean socks, a washroom that does not require me to pester someone to pull over, and two pillows, a mattress, and a blanket – to myself. See you on the 19th gentlemen, please bring Laura back alive and sane.
Cheers,
Evan
